Trane Cemetery was opened in 1910 and has been extended a number of times over the years to cater for the needs of the residents of Tonyrefail. The lower half of the cemetery is the older section where you will see a variety of styles of memorials.
The upper half of the cemetery features the cremation section and the lawn grave section.

Memorial Safety Inspections
As a burial authority, the Council has a statutory duty to ensure the safety of the Cemetery site including the memorials within it. The Council routinely carries out inspections of all memorials at Trane Cemetery on a five-yearly rolling programme. The Council makes use of a combination of external contractors and Council staff to undertake the inspections. Staff have been trained by the Institute of Cemetery and Crematorium Management in order to carry out the inspections appropriately.
Some memorials that fail the test must be laid down. This is necessary when they are deemed sufficiently unstable as to pose a risk of falling.
We write to all affected plot owners individually to inform them of the situation and give them information on the options available to them. It is therefore important that you let us know if your contact details / address have changed since you first purchased the plot. Please note that any repairs or refixing of memorials need to be carried out by a BRAMM or NAMM accredited memorial mason in line with British Standard BS8415. A list of accredited masons can be found on the website of British Register of Accredited Memorial Masons or National Association of Memorial Masons.
