The Community Council are sponsoring a Christmas Afternoon Tea at The Lighthouse Project (off Prichard Street) for residents of Tonyrefail aged 60+.

Due to the high rates of Covid-19 still prevalent within our community, the local branch of the Royal British Legion did not wish to take part in a parade or service at the Cenotaph this year as they have a number of highly vulnerable members, and have already lost members due to Covid.

As such, we supported their decision and there will be wreath laying only at the Cenotaph along with the 2 minutes silence.

The Parish of Tonyrefail do however have the options below available should you wish to participate in a Service of Remembrance.

Regulation 15(5) of the Accounts and Audit (Wales) Regulations 2014 (as amended) requires that by 30 September 2021, Tonyrefail & District Community Council publish its accounting statements for the year ended 31 March 2021 together with any certificate, opinion, or report issued, given or made by the Auditor General.

The accounting statements in the form of an annual return have been published on the Council’s website. However, the accounts are published before the conclusion of the audit. Due to the impact of COVID-19, the Auditor General has not yet issued an audit opinion.

Mae’r datganiadau cyfrifyddu ar ffurf ffurflen flynyddol wedi’u cyhoeddi ar wefan y Cyngor. Fodd bynnag, cyhoeddir y cyfrifon cyn i’r archwiliad ddod i ben. Oherwydd effaith COVID-19, nid yw’r Archwilydd Cyffredinol wedi cyhoeddi barn archwilio eto.

Please note that from 1st October 2021 the cemetery reverts to the autumn / winter opening hours of 10am to 4pm daily for both vehicles and pedestrians.

COEDELY Ward

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN pursuant to section 87(2) of The Local Government Act 1972, that a CASUAL VACANCY has occurred in the membership of the Tonyrefail Community Council for the Coedely Ward.
If an Election is not claimed as set out below the Council will be required to fill the casual vacancy by co-option in accordance with Section 116, of the Local Government (Wales) Measure 2011.

An Election will be held if TEN Local Government Electors of the Ward give notice in writing to:

The Proper Officer, The Old Courthouse, Courthouse Street, Pontypridd CF37 1JW, or email electoralservices@rctcbc.gov.uk requesting an Election.

Such notice to be delivered no later than 14 days from the date of this notice. The computation of time in accordance with Rule 2 of the aforementioned rules disregards Bank Holidays, Saturdays and Sundays.

A qualified person interested in being considered for co-option in the event of no election being claimed should inform the undersigned.

The National Lottery Heritage Fund, along with Cadw and the Welsh Government launched the 15 Minute Heritage Fund to attempt to get to people to connect with the heritage on their doorsteps.

Tonyrefail & District Community Council was fortunate to receive funding for the design and installation of information boards to be placed around the community to encourage people to engage further with the heritage within their local area.

One of the boards is shown below, which tells the story of Coedely Colliery which has been reclaimed and is now being turned into an industrial estate of sorts. This board will ensure that the story of the Colliery is told and not forgotten.

These boards have been made possible thanks to the National Lottery Heritage Fund, Cadw and the Welsh Government.

Another round of funding has opened, and should you be a local group or organisation with an interest in doing something similar you can find all the information you need here.

Mr Lee Whitehead will be the Community Councillor for the Coedely Ward following an uncontested election. We look forward to welcoming Lee to Council meetings virtually and in person in due course.
